MEET THE MAFIA: THE KEITH FAMILY

Meet Kam, Korey, and Autumn Keith from Warner, Oklahoma—a family whose Mini Hereford journey started with one little girl and a desire to teach her lessons that go far beyond the show ring.
When the Keiths began looking for livestock for Kam to show at just five years old, Mini Herefords seemed like the perfect fit. Their size made them manageable for a young showman, but it didn’t take long for the family to fall in love with their individual personalities, too. What started as a way to teach Kam responsibility has now grown into a 17-head herd and a passion shared by the whole family. Their first Mini Hereford heifer, Ginny, will always hold an extra-special place in their hearts.
Cattle life at the Keith house is definitely a family affair. Mom handles the early mornings and most of the rinsing, Dad proudly serves as the check writer, cattle hauler, and bed cleaner, and Kam is the showman—although she’s also been known to take over as the judge while walking calves! Their favorite part of it all is simple: watching Kam’s face light up when she steps into the show ring.
One of their proudest moments came when Kam won Grand Pre-Junior Showmanship at the 2026 Mini Hereford Expo, a reward for the hard work she had put into becoming a better showman. But some of their best memories have nothing to do with banners—like dressing Kam as ice cream and her heifer Grey as cotton candy for a costume contest and listening to Kam giggle over her “cotton candy cow.”
Through the wins, losses, early mornings and hard days, the Keiths say Mini Herefords have taught their family commitment. Their animals depend on them whether it’s a good day or a bad one. Looking ahead, they hope to grow their herd so Kam can show bred-and-owned cattle while producing quality Mini Herefords that can help other kids begin their own journey.
And their advice to new Mini families may say it best: Everyone does things differently, every judge has a different opinion, and no matter how hard it gets, never lose sight of why you started.
For the Keith family, Mini Herefords have become much more than cattle. They’ve brought life lessons, memories, and friendships they’ll forever be thankful for.
